Our School was founded in 1842 as the original educational institute of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Since that time, the ‘Square’, as it is affectionately known, has played a leading role in pharmacy education and professional activity.
In January 2012, we became a member of University College London and are delighted to be vigorously exploring the multiple opportunities for collaboration and cooperation that are now available to us. As a former postgraduate and staff member of the school myself, I am delighted to report that all the character, commitment and quality that we have long associated with the School is not just intact but is being actively enhanced. We look forward to an extremely bright future, not least because of our new MPharm degree which we fully believe meets all the requirements of modern pharmacy education and adds numerous innovations to the student experience and learning process.
High scoresWe are particularly proud of our consistently high scores in research assessment exercises and the excellent quality of our graduates at all levels, many of whom are now professional, research and educational leaders worldwide. The UCL School of Pharmacy has been ranked within the top 10 in the world for the subject area in the two major international ranking tables, coming 4th in the QS Rankings (
Pharmacy and Pharmacology 2022) as well as 5th in the Shanghai Ranking (
Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science 2021). These tables reflect a range of attributes including research excellence and reputation, hence we are delighted that UCL School of Pharmacy has been ranked so highly but also wish to congratulate the other excellent schools that have made the top ten in either or both list this year.
