NCCIM Department Respiratory Medicine, Intensive Care and Sleep Medicine

The progenitor of the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy is the Department of Faculty Therapy of the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute, where in 1967, on the basis of a resolution of the State Committee for Science and Technology under the Council of Ministers of the USSR, a problem laboratory “Physiology and pathology of the human body in high mountain conditions” was created under the guidance of prof. M.M.Mirrakhimova. In 1977, the problem laboratory was transformed into the Kirghiz Research Institute of Cardiology of the Ministry of Health of the Kirghiz SSR, which became the first cardiology research institution in the entire Central Asian region.
In 1996, the Institute of Cardiology was transformed into the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy (NCCT) under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. The status of the NCCT is defined as the highest state scientific medical organization on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic in cardiology, internal and mountain medicine.

In 2002, an interdepartmental Research Institute of Molecular Biology and Medicine was established on the basis of the Department of Fundamental Research of the NCCT. In 2003, the Department of Cardiac Surgery of the NCCT was transformed into the Research Institute of Cardiac Surgery and Organ Transplantation, the purpose of which was to optimize diagnostic and specialized surgical care for patients with diseases of the heart and other vital organs.

At present, these institutes carry out their scientific and other activities independently of the NCCT.

On October 30, 2004, the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic was named after Academician Mirsaid Mirrakhimov.

Thus, the research problem laboratory “Physiology and Pathology of the Human Body in High Mountain Conditions” has turned into a large highly qualified scientific, medical and educational center in the field of cardiology, internal and mountain medicine. Modern diagnostic technologies that meet international standards are debugged and function here and treatment; highly qualified personnel work, there is high-precision equipment.
